Launching an emulation server
Online server
Once you have logged in, you’ll find the server information in the left panel.
In order to launch a server, just press the Create server button.
Warning
If the button is grayed out you will have to select a region first, see Set Region.
The server launch will take up to a minute max. Once it’s started, you can access the workspace with the following button.
Tip
The online server is executed on remote machine, allowing you to use Simumatik from any device with a web-browser!
Once the lifetime of the emulation server is over, it will display a STOPPED message to inform you. The stopped server records are cleaned up every hour.
Note
Online emulation servers are disposable and they will automatically shut down after some predefined time. See more information about the online server time restrinctions in plans and features.
To launch a new emulation server, remove the old emulation server using the trash button and launch a new one following the steps above.
Note
The button to create a new emulation server won't work until the current emulation server is removed.
Local server
Local servers don't have any time limitation and will allow the user to take full advange of their PC specs, resulting in a lower latency and, depending on the specs, an increased performance.
Note
Local servers are only available for paid users. Users with a basic plan will automatically be directed into an online server when entering the platform.
Installation
Once you have logged in, you’ll find the Download local server button on the left side.
Note
In order to use the local server, you need to install it for the first time. If you already have it, skip the installation part and jump directly to starting it.
The Simumatik server will be downloaded as an exe file. Save it your PC, and execute it to install the server.
Once you open the Server executable, a warning from Windows may appear, as seen in the picture below. To start the installation, click on 'More info' and a new screen with more information will be shown.
It is important to double-check that the publisher is 'Simumatik AB' before clicking on 'Run anyway'. Finally, just follow the installer instructions.
Start server
Once installed, you can start the server by searching for Simumatik.
When launching the server, a splash-screen screen will be displayed.
Tip
The Simumatik server self-updates itfself on launch. This way, you just need to install it once!
If the server is successfully started, a Simumatik icon should be shown in your system-tray to indicate the user that the server is currently running.
Enter workspace
At this point, you can go back to the simumatik app and refresh the servers list in the homescreen by clicking the reload button. The local server running will now be shown there.
