Success Story

Bosch has introduced DeviceBridge, a new central system for managing manufacturing data. The company initiated a project to construct a digital version of a factory, showcasing the capabilities of their software. The virtual factory setup comprises a manufacturing area, a quality inspection station, a SCARA robot for packaging, and self-driving vehicles for convenient transport. This virtual demonstration illustrates how parts are handled based on manufacturing quality and how information from the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and various sensors can be collected, analyzed, and displayed in real-time using DeviceBridge.
The collaboration between the Simumatik team and Bosch’s engineers integrated Bosch’s expert knowledge with Simumatik’s experience in model building. Within the factory, parts are produced using injection molding and extrusion technologies. These components undergo a quality control process, simulating a visual inspection system that identifies and rejects any defective parts from the production line. Subsequently, a SCARA robot packages the products into boxes, which are then sealed and loaded onto self-driving vehicles destined for the final station.

The entire process is governed by an emulated PLC utilizing Siemens’ control system, specifically the TIA portal in conjunction with PLCSIM Advanced. Bosch’s DeviceBridge communicates with the PLC to obtain real-time data from the factory. The collected data is then analyzed to provide valuable insights, enabling Bosch to measure crucial factors such as quality, production speed, and equipment performance. This project underscores Bosch’s commitment to innovation and efficiency, showcasing their dedication to implementing the latest technologies to create a portable and demonstrative system.

"Our experience with the Simumatik team was outstanding. Despite a tight timeframe, they swiftly developed a fully operational Digital Twin system for our Bosch DeviceBridge software. This was showcased at SPS, Nurnberg, effectively illustrating the seamless integration of IT and OT. We enthusiastically recommend Simumatik for all your digital twin solution needs."
